Smile, It’s free therapy.

Life is never a scripted journey & in some instances, we are presented with the loss of a tooth or teeth. Luckily, dental advances mean there are numerous options available such as: Dental Implants, Bridges or Dentures.

What is a Dental Implant?

An implant is a medical-grade titanium post, which is placed into the jaw bone. It’s then used as a foundation to support a crown, bridge or denture.

An implant can provide a robust long-term tooth replacement, which is non-removable and similar in looks and chewing to a natural tooth.

What does Implant Treatment Involve?

  1. Consultation

Gathering information including your medical history, relevant X-rays & photos and an in-depth discussion on the available treatment options available to you are had. This is then followed up with a report sent via email to you, if you have any further questions you can easily get in touch via info@dilanthedentist.com.

2. Implant Surgery

The big day! You will be advised of any medications we would like you to take in advance of your appointment.

The placement of an implant is generally completed within an hour under a local anaesthetic (the same injections you would have had for a deep filling or extraction). The procedure is less painful than that of a tooth extraction!

As with any other surgery, you should expect and plan for a certain amount of swelling and discomfort surrounding the surgical site in the days following your surgery.

3. Restoring the Implant

Once the implant has had a suitable time to heal, we then begin the process of restoring it with an implant crown. A scan or impression of your jaw is taken and sent to a laboratory.

Each implant crown is manufactured bespoke (similar to that of a tailored suit!), and is expected to last many years. Instructions for caring for the implant will be given to you.
